"It was a very, very enjoyable trip with Moha all along. Travelling alone for three girls in North Africa could sound intimidating, but Moha definitely eased everything out for us. From the steady drives, interesting local tours, authentic lunches, to his delightful sense of humor - we enjoyed ourselves so much around the Sahara Desert. Because Moha is such a friendly and easy-going tour guide, we had our itinerary completely to ourselves and we were able to speak out any needs/problems to him with no reserve. He even made a trip to his house to show us the daily lives of Moroccans - a side of the tour that you rarely get the chance to see! We are absolutely grateful for his hospitality. I would recommend everyone to book with Tangier Excursions & Moha because of my wonderful time in Morocco.."

Meet and greet at the port of Tangier

The Tangier and Tetouan day trip from Gibraltar, Marbella, Malaga, Seville, Tarifa…etc remains one of the most popular day trips to Morocco from Spain and is carefully designed to enable you to experience what the mysterious cities of Tangier and Tetouan have to offer.

The most recommended way to get to Tangier from Spain is by fast ferry from Tarifa Port as the journey takes around 45 minutes. Upon arrival at the dock of Tangier, you will notice your private tour guide holding a sign with your name on it.

You will initially explore the Ville Nouvelle “New Town”, which was primarily built by International Powers that ruled the city from 1920th to 1950th and this fact is noticeable to this day with districts being named after countries that had offices in the area such French, Belgium, Spanish, Dutch…Districts. Drive through the area where richest Moroccans & foreigners live with its fancy villas, mansions & palaces.

Your guided tour of Tangier will take you to the Cap Spartel where it is believed at this exact point both the Atlantic & Mediterranean Seas converge. The lighthouse that still serves the ships & boats crossing the Strait of Gibraltar functions in a traditional way since 1864. Enjoy a nice mint tea along with the stunning views. After that, you may want to experience the camel ride by the sandy beach before making a visit to the pre-historic Hercules Caves.

Guided Walking Tour of the Kasbah & Medina

The second part of our guided tour of Tangier will take us to the dramatic Kasbah (small fortress) that is perched uphill overlooking the Medina, Gibraltar, Spain & the Atlantic Ocean.

Meander around the small lanes with its white buildings that have been turned into Hotel Riads or private residences. Visit the Kasbah Museum that served as a royal residence during the reign of Moulay Ismail in the 17th century and the current museums beautifully display a wide selection of antiques, crafts, jewelry, pottery that reveal the ancient and rich history of the northern part of Morocco.

Continue your walk, following the instructions of your private tour guide, down using hundreds of steps to the vibrant Medina that has been the hub for cultural & commercial activities. The Souks (markets) are organized into sections based on the products on sales such as vegetables, fish, spices, crafts, clothes and much more.

Explore the UNESCO Listed Heritage World Medina of Tetouan

Our day trip to Tangier & Tetouan from Gibraltar will take us now to Tetouan through the speedy road. You will spend your time exploring this magical city that has been called “Little Jerusalem” or “Daughter of Granada”.

The Medina (Old Town) is somehow the smallest compared to other Moroccan old towns but has been almost untouched since its foundation apart from few buildings that were saved by the UNESCO. Tetouan was expanded by the Jewish & Moorish Aristocrats who were expelled from Andalusia during the Reconquista, a fact that can be seen from the interior of some of its buildings with its wrought iron grills, stucco work, woodcarvings, Zelij tiles and much more.

Wander around the narrow lanes of the ancient and learn about the history behind the foundation of the Medina. Visit the Souks before we drive back to Tangier where we will assist you at the port for your departure.

By the end of the day, the Tangier and Tetouan day trip should have brought the rich history, culture & lifestyle of the northern part of Morocco alive to you. Please note we do also offer short trips from Tangier in case you have more time to explore Asilah, Chefchaouen or even the Imperial Cities of Morocco.
